‘Liyuan Library’ by Li Xiaodong
Architect Li Xiaodong has completed this timber framed library that is covered in firewood.
The library is located in a small village, Huairou, on the outskirts of Beijing, and blended into the overwhelming beautiful landscape through a delicate choice of materials – locally sourced wooden sticks pilled around villagers houses that are normally used to fuel their cooking stoves- and careful placement of the building volume.
Distinct seating areas are created by steps and small level changes which again offer different views towards the surrounding landscapes.
